Where to Eat in Batam: My Top Restaurant Picks ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ

Hey Leosquad! Where to Eat in Batam is honestly the only question that really matters when youโ€™re here. Letโ€™s be real โ€” most of us come for the food. Not just because itโ€™s affordable, but because itโ€™s actually that good. The kind you still think about long after youโ€™ve left.

I lived in Batam for over two years, and eating out was basically part of everyday life โ€” from simple local spots to the go-to places Iโ€™d bring visiting friends ๐Ÿ‘ฅ.

Now Iโ€™m back after 3โ€“4 years (officially for a friendโ€™s wedding, unofficially to eat everything Iโ€™ve been missing). So if youโ€™re wondering where to eat in Batam, this is my personal list โ€” the places I genuinely love and would recommend without hesitation.

If youโ€™re visiting for the first time or coming back like I did, think of this as your eat-first, think-later guide ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ.

Martabak Terang Bulan dan Bangka

There are plenty of martabak terang bulan stalls around the Penuin area, and most of them only open at night. Youโ€™ll spot them from their simple street carts โ€” the kind of late-night comfort food locals line up for.

Just order one and youโ€™ll instantly see why people love it. Itโ€™s generously loaded with chocolate, cheese, peanutsโ€ฆ sometimes all at once. Thick, sweet, slightly gooey in the middle โ€” rich, messy, and seriously satisfying.

If you prefer something savory, go for martabak Bangka instead โ€” filled with egg and minced meat, then cooked into a thick, stuffed savory pancake with a crispy exterior.
